This week we looked at journaling to express emotion.

And today we’re going to look at another application for the supportive practice of journaling: a Gratitude Journal.

There is significant qualitative evidence that cultivating a consistent practice of gratitude creates a happier and more abundant experience of life. [1]

For years it has been one of Oprah’s most important habits. She writes about it here if you’d love to learn more.

But the premise is simple.

Write down what you’re grateful for.

And I would add to that: take the time to really feel that gratitude. Feel it so much that a smile turns the edges of your mouth upward. Feel it so much that it’s as if you’re reliving this sweet moment again.

It’s so simple. But don’t let the simplicity fool you. This is POWERFUL.

You will need:

  • A journal or notebook
  • A pen
  1. Write down at least 5 things you’re grateful for.
    It can be anything.
    Little things. Large things.
    Silly things. Serious things.
  2. Pro Tip 🏆 Do it every day! Or as often as you can!
